Making The Floral Experience Last

To be honest, the personality of a bouquet of fresh-cut flowers is that they’re often a little “bougie.” Don’t worry—they won’t be offended I said that because it’s true!

It can be a single stem or a bouquet filled with different shapes, sizes and varieties. They show up like the divas they are - vibrant, vivacious, and demanding attention. With their color, fragrance, and natural elegance, they transform any space or mood into a radiant display of nature’s brilliance. Personally, I’ve never seen a single flower—or bouquet—that didn’t capture my admiration. Flowers spark joy, inspire celebration, and have a mystifying ability to communicate human emotion with mind-blowing clarity. But their brilliance fades far too quickly.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if those lush (and sometimes pricey) blooms could brighten your space for more than a couple of days?

They can—with the right care.

As a bouquet designer and staunch promoter of quiet luxury through flowers and plants, I want your bouquet to bring you lasting pleasure. So, I’m sharing a little floral science and with just a bit of effort (think of it as floral mindfulness), you can dramatically extend the life of your bougie blooms.

💐 8 Simple Tips for Keeping Your Bougie Blooms Vibrant

  1. Start with a Clean Vase
Bacteria is your bouquet’s nemesis. Wash your vase thoroughly before use—and no shortcuts!

  2. Snip Smartly ✂️
Trim stems at a 45° angle to increase water uptake. Do this every couple of days.

  3. Hydration is Key 💦
Fill your vase with room-temperature water and check it daily. Top off or change as needed.

  4. Feed Them 🍬
Add floral food packets or make your own with sugar, lemon juice, and a drop of bleach. I use a drop of bleach.

  5. Keep It Cool ❄️
Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources. Flowers love cool, shady spots.

  6. Declutter the Water 🌿
Remove any leaves below the waterline to prevent rot and murky water.

  7. Remove Spent Blooms 🥀
Wilted flowers release ethylene gas that can affect the fresh ones. Keep the bouquet fresh by pruning gently.

  8. Love Them Daily 🫶
Give your blooms daily attention and care—it makes a difference. A little daily ritual goes a long way.

Allow me to create the floral experience for you that lasts.
